DAAD EPOS Development-Related Postgraduate Scholarships

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

Funding for development-related postgraduate courses at selected German universities. It targets academically strong graduates with relevant professional experience. Applications are made course by course rather than through one programme-wide form and deadline. Dates for 2027–2028 intakes are published individually, and a course deadline may be early.

Grant details and eligibility

Review eligibility, coverage and required documents before applying.

Eligibility criteria

01

Common requirements include citizenship from DAAD's eligible-country list, a suitable first degree (often a four-year bachelor's), above-average academic results, generally at least two years of relevant post-graduation work experience, and the required language proficiency. The course must be on the official EPOS list and match the applicant's background. Individual courses may add requirements; courses outside the list are not covered.

What the funding covers

02

A monthly stipend by level, contributions toward health, accident and personal-liability insurance, and a travel allowance unless another source pays it. Monthly rent support or an allowance for accompanying family may be available in certain cases. Funding lasts 12–42 months by course and does not cover every personal or family expense automatically.

Required documents

03

Typically prepare passport, bachelor's degree/transcript, CV, motivation letter, professional-experience evidence and employment references, language certificate, references and course-specific documents. Submission route varies; follow the chosen university's instructions and EPOS course list rather than relying only on a general checklist.

How to apply

04

1) Check country, experience and subject eligibility. 2) Select a course from the EPOS list and read the university page. 3) Check the exact deadline for the 2027–2028 intake; there is no programme-wide deadline. 4) Apply as instructed and observe earlier internal cut-offs. 5) Follow responses and complete missing items. NEXA can help shortlist courses, prepare a CV/motivation letter and organise documents for a separately disclosed fee; awarding bodies decide and admission is not guaranteed.

Applying through NEXA is a separate paid service. The fee is explained before the process starts. Listing an opportunity does not guarantee eligibility, acceptance or funding.
